What is an order picker?

An order picker is a warehouse worker who knows the warehouse inside and out. As a logistics employee, you play a crucial role in the warehouse.

You are responsible for incoming and outgoing orders. You prepare them for shipping and check for any damage. When order picking, you need not only logistics skills but also strong administrative abilities. You possess technical skills and are an all-around player.

 

What does an order picker do?

Where does an order picker work?

Order pickers predominantly work in warehouses and distribution centers of wholesalers, supermarkets, as well as (online) stores and mail-order companies. Order pickers often collaborate closely with others, such as administrative professionals, production workers, and transport personnel like forklift operators and truck drivers.

 

Become an order picker in 2, 3, 4, or 5 shifts. 

As an order picker, you usually work in a shift system. This can range from a day shift to a night or weekend shift. The best shift system for you depends on various factors. Additionally, you can choose to work part-time or full-time as an order picker!

Jingdong Logistics is one of the largest Asian logistics companies and is expanding into Europe. They work with innovative techniques in the brand new and modern warehouse in Venray. The warehouse is for the distribution of a well-known lingerie brand. Will you be part of the growth of Jingdong Logistics?

Job description

As a warehouse employee / order picker at Jingdong Logistics in Venray, you’ll never have a bored moment. In this full-time role, you can work side by side with your best friend; making the days fly by! The company operates from Monday to Sunday, with shifts from 06:00 to 15:00 and 15:00 to 00:00. You’ll work in a 2-shift system, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your free hours too.

And don’t worry about getting exhausted; many of the orders are handled by robots and automated systems, making your job much lighter. Sounds perfect, right? 

Your tasks as a warehouse employee include:

  • Process orders before shipping
  • Packing orders
  • Prepare and check shipments

FAQ – Werken als orderpicker in Nederland

Een orderpicker verzamelt producten uit het magazijn aan de hand van picklijsten of scanners, controleert aantallen en kwaliteit, verpakt goederen en zet bestellingen klaar voor verzending. Het bruto uurloon een orderpicker ligt tussen €14,71 bruto per uur en €17,05 bruto per uur. Het loon kan hoger worden door ploegentoeslagen of prestaties.

Ervaring is geen vereiste. Veel bedrijven bieden opleiding op de werkvloer aan en werken met duidelijke procedures en scanners zodat starters snel kunnen instromen.

Orderpickers werken vaak in ploegensystemen zoals:

Ploegen zorgen voor continuïteit in grote logistieke centra en kunnen salarissen verhogen door toeslagen.
